As I was venting to my David Barton instructor Ross Bramlet, he offered me up this jump rope routine* that anyone can do even if the gym is jam-packed. Find a corner, a jump rope, a set of 2.5 or 5 pound weights and go!
*I picked the songs, Ross tailored the workout, but you can substitute your favorite music if you’d like.
1. (3:51) Kings of Leon: “Use Somebody” – level 1 jump rope: 2 minutes, level two jump rope: 2 minutes.
2. (3:00) Metro Station: “Shake It”- level 3 jump rope: 3 minutes.
3. (4:01) The Veronicas: “Untouched”- forward lunges: 2 minutes, backward lunges: 2 minutes.
4. (2:51) Cobra Starship – basic crunches: 3 minutes.
5. (4:42) The Black Eyed Peas: “Meet Me Halfway”- level 2 jump rope: 2 minutes, level 3 jump rope: 2 minutes, level two jump rope remainder of song.
6. (3:31) Marilyn Manson: “Personal Jesus”- 3 minute wall sit.
7. (4:20) Kanye West: “Stronger”- burpies: 1:30 seconds, pulsing squats: 1 minute, mini bicep curls: 1:30 seconds.
8. (3:39) The Bravery: “Public Service Announcement” – jumping jacks: 1 minute, burpies: 1 minute, rest: 2 minutes.
9. (4:48) Passion Pit: “The Reeling”- tricep extensions: 2 minutes, shoulder raises: 2 minutes, shoulder presses: :48 seconds.
10. (4:37) Jay-Z: “Empire State of Mind”- level two jump rope: 3 minutes, level three jump rope: 1:30 seconds.
11. (2:51) Phoenix: “1901″ – level three jump rope: entire song.
12: (2:52) Lady Gaga: “The Fame Monster” – wall sit: 2 minutes, plank: 52 seconds.
13. (4:40) The Virgins: “Rich Girls”- bicycle crunches: 1 minute, basic crunches: 1 minute, plank: 40 seconds.
14. (3:14) Bloc Party: “Banquet” – level two jump rope: 1 minute, level three jump rope: 2 minutes.
