What to Wear Betweasons!

How to Deal with Mother Nature's Mood Swings

by Kari Radjewski – April 3, 2013

Tulips have yet to bloom, but CTA heaters are off… which only means one thing: we are betweasons. Yes, betweasons…you know – the awkward stage; like in a break-up when you both know it is over and time to move on, but can’t quite quit “trying to work it out?” Well, that’s how Mother Nature is these days: complicated! And since she is at the helm, we’ve got to outsmart her mood swings.

Winter may be pretty much done-zo, but spring hasn’t quite sprung, either. To sport all of this season’s trends and still dress weather appropriate, here is what to do:

Dressing for Spring

Stripe Scarf / B + W Arm Bag / Flats

Stripe Sweatshirt / Floral Denim

The black and white trend will be hanging on for another season, but to make it a bit more “Spring-y,” go for a white base  A blanche background hints to a Spring sartorial, but with a bulky sweatshirt and bundling up in a scarf, you keep the wardrobe respectful to a reliable dip of degrees.

Floor Lengths for Spring

Coral Earrings / Buckle Booties

Knit Sweater / Colorful Skirt

My favorite – maxi-lengths – are here for another round of warm weather so, of course, I’m itching to shimmy into the to-the-floor frocks. For cool floral prints, warm them up with a go-to knit. Hopefully you haven’t already hidden away winter footwear because a pair of booties balances the sweater, as a bright pair of earrings does the same for the vibrant skirt.

Spring Denim Jacket

Denim Jacket / Envelope Clutch / Grey Booties

Neon Shirt Dress / Jade Necklace

If there is one Spring staple to own, it is absolutely a denim jacket  The sporty layer matches with pretty much anything and is warm enough to ward off a breezy chill, making it easy to incorporate neon brights into attire. Until the weather proves that it’s ready for full-time flats, take to some ankle boots for the transition.

There is something about sunshine that makes people happy even when it is cold outside. Though there have been a few glimpses of spring, be fair when it comes to weather vs. your wardrobe. Definitely ditch your darks and pop some color, but cover-up appropriately when Mother Nature falls for winter’s shit again…
