You may think choosing your venue, your date and narrowing down your guest list are the most stressful choices you’ll have to make when planning your wedding, but no one ever told you how hard it would be to choose your wedding colors. Choosing your colors is so very important because it will not only help all the other decisions you have to make fall into place, but it will help carry a consistent theme throughout your wedding when it comes to invitations, bridesmaids’ dresses and pretty much everything else.
Confused about colors for your wedding day? Not sure if one color matches the other? Are you color blind, perhaps? Don’t worry, you are fo sho not the only one flipping out about it.
I will be your wedding color forecaster and help you create the perfect match for your wedding genre! For upcoming weddings, hot colors include: coral, orange, blue and metallics – see my favorite pairings for each of these “must-have” colors below!
Vintage: Pair with gold and ivory.
Classic: Pair with whites/ivory, pink and a touch of black or gray.
Beach: Pair with khaki and pale aqua.
Clean and modern: Pair with whites, gray and a bright pop of orange (very in for Fall 2012).
Classic summer wedding (2012): Pair with pale pink and hot pink with touches of gold.
Preppy: Perfect with pale blue, white and khaki (think East Coast Hamptons wedding).
Vintage: Pair eggplant purple and ivory with gold accents.
Fresh and classic: Pair eggplant purple with baby blue or Chambray blue (blue jean blue).
Sophisticated evening: Dark purple with pops of raspberry.
Ultimate classic look: Pair baby blue with bright blue and white/ivory. If you want a touch of vintage, add accents of gold or copper.
Preppy: Pair navy blue with pale blue, white and accents of silver.
Rustic: Sky blue, gold, white and raspberry (outdoor wedding).
Copper: For that vintage/rustic look, use copper (which is super hot right now) paired with shades of ivory (love, love, love!!!).
Gold: This metallic can be a great accent with anything!
Some of my favorite metallic color combos are:
- Sophisticated: gold and ivory OR silver and black.
- Vintage: gold, coral and ivory OR silver, aqua, rose pink with a touch of slate gray.
- Fairytale Classic: pale blue, gold and ivory OR silver, pale blue and white.
