Three Tips to Affording Clean Beauty Products

Your Skin Begs You Not to Be Cheap

by Karie Hill – September 20, 2012

The founder of my favorite clean beauty site, Goddess Huntress, shares her feelings on our everyday beauty products:

“To put it bluntly, most of our everyday beauty and personal care products are pumped up with some f****d up ingredients that can cause cancer, birth defects and make your sons’ penis small.”

Monique Reavis is my go-to for anything related to clean beauty and the latest fun products. I am obsessed with Goddess Huntress and can’t get enough of what Monique shares with her clean lip gloss, sunscreen, nail polish, essential oils – LOVE! She even has a “stay the hell away” list that you’ll want to read.

“Karie, I can’t afford clean, non-toxic beauty products. The prices are insane!”

Yes, you CAN afford clean beauty and I’m going to show you three easy ways to cross over to the clean side without breaking the bank. Let’s stop polluting our beautiful bodies with junk.

1. Start small.

As you run out of a particular beauty item, replace it with its non-toxic sister. For example, that plastic shower puff that’s filled with chemicals can easily be replaced with an all-natural loofah. Easy and inexpensive.

2. Make small changes in your everyday spending.

Find a beauty product you would love to have. If you cut eating out one lunch or one dinner a week and put the money you would have spent in a “clean beauty” envelope, you’ll have a good chunk to spend on non-toxic beauty products.

3. Quality vs. quantity.

Look in your bathroom closet? How many bottles of perfume, lip gloss, nail polish bottles do you have? If you add up the quantity of the “cheap” stuff you buy, I bet it’s actually more expensive than the clean products you think you can’t afford. Instead of having twelve different colors of nail polish, have three clean nail polishes.

Do you automatically think, “I can’t afford it” when it comes to all natural beauty products? Share your thoughts in the comments.
