The Black Eyed Peas Hit the Scene

All Cheeky Girls Have That Boom Boom Pow

by Stephanie Miller – March 19, 2010

It didn’t hit me until I was standing on the floor of the United Center:  the Black Eyed Peas are really good.  There, I said it. I’ve always known they were bona fied hitmakers. Hate on pop music all you want, but there’s something to be said about a group who delivers a fantastic, high adrenaline performance, and busts out hit after hit after hit. It was one of those shows where I found myself thinking, “OMG, that’s right, they sing this song too!”

I was invited to the show as a guest of Bacardi – the VIP sponsor of the tour – and was eager, not only to check out Fergalicous, but also the opening act: Ludacris, whose songs were the official anthem of my spring break experiences in college.

Glamorous fused into My Humps, then morphed into a Pump ItWhere is the Love? fusion and when will.I.am descended into the crowd and spun from a futuristic DJ booth, I was sold. They’re great entertainers.

I’ve been to over 200 concerts and seeing Slash emerge on stage was one of the more exciting musical moments I’ve experienced.

Following the show at the United Center, Bacardi hosted the Bacardi VIP Room for a group of lucky VIPs (like Cheeky!) at Enclave.  Fergie, will.I.am, and Appl.de.Ap were clearly in a Chi-Town State of Mind as they performed Imma Be for the club-goers.  Josh Duhamel and Slash partook in the post-concert celebration and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to an elated will.I.am.

It truly was a G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S evening.
