The A-List: What to See at Lolla

by Amanda Troop – July 29, 2010

In a little over a week, Lollapalooza will be taking over Chicago. That means crowds, heat, and tons and tons of entertainment. In my opinion, all the headliners are definitely worth seeing (yes, even Lady Gaga) – so if you have to run back and forth all over Grant Park, bring water.

As far as some lesser known acts, try these:

Friday

B.o.B (11:30am, adidas MEGA stage): He’s a talented performer and producer for whom I’ve already professed my love. I have no problems doing it again. Don’t miss this.

B.o.BNeon Trees (5:30pm, BMI stage): The Utah quartet blends pop-rock into catchy, awesomely synthesized tunes.

Saturday

Neon TreesBlues Traveler (1:45pm, Parkways stage): Ok, so this band may be a little 1994, but they still put on a good show. Frontman John Popper, as always, gives that harmonica all he’s got.

Metric (5:15pm, PlayStation stage): Lead by the captivating Emily Haines, Metric brings poppy dance beats and pointed guitar riffs front and center. With their slick sound, they’re today’s Blondie.

Sunday

Company of Thieves (1:00pm, Sony bloggie): Chicago’s own Company of Thieves puts on a mesmerizing show. They’re absolutely worth seeing – and if you haven’t seen them before, you’re guaranteed to walk away a fan of their music.

Company of ThievesThe Temper Trap (6:30pm, Sony bloggie stage): This Australian quartet may not have a” temper,” per se, but they are musically explosive. In a good way, of course.
