First things first. Schumer is not for everyone. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that – while some men in the audience audibly laughed at her jokes – she’s definitely for the ladies (where comedy is concerned). She’s brazen, witty and sharp, and despite her unapologetic attitude toward – well, everything – you walk away from her set thinking, “I want to be her friend.”
Her hour-long set covered everything from her mom to body waxing to weird sex, and she wasn’t afraid to interact with the audience – weaving participation in and out of her act seamlessly.
“Blacking out is never good. No, seriously, you guys, don’t clap for that. Your mind has shut down, but your body’s still moving! Nothing good has ever come from blacking out. You never wake up and say, ‘What? What’s this Pilates mat doing out on the floor? How – how is my house clean?’”
“I have some CDs to sell – no, really, I’d have some CDs I’d really like to get rid of. The proceeds go to… I don’t know… something. The silver thing. What’s the silver thing called? The Bean? Really? Isn’t that another name for the clitoris? The Clitoris of Chicago.”
Amy Schumer can be seen in the upcoming film Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.
