We all recognize Sunda for its amazing sushi. And its cutting edge Asian cuisine. And its outstanding cocktails. And its award-winning Executive Chef. And the ridiculously cool staff. And the gorgeous interior….Okay, I’ll stop.

Actually, I won’t.  As if there weren’t enough things to love about one of Chicago’s greatest new dining destinations, the ladies and gents behind Rockit Ranch have given us one more reason to salivate.

Hello, Sunday brunch.  Do not expect your run-of-the-mill pancakes and cheesy omelets here every Sunday from 10:30 am until 3 pm. Come prepared to behold some of the most innovative brunch in the city…and come hungry.  Exec Chef Rodelio Aglibot draws on his Asian roots with dishes like Braised Pork Belly on Crispy Rice Patties with poached eggs and Sunda egg sauce (kinda like his Crispy Tuna on carnivore crack) and his signature: The Food Buddha’s Hawaiian Hangover Cure “Loco Moco,” which is a popular breakfast dish in many Asian cultures. From the perfectly cooked hamburger topped with buttery brown gravy and fried eggs that ooze over the white steamed rice, it’s easy to see why. It’s also an easy excuse to get your Cheeky booty to the gym later that Sunday.

If savory’s not your thing, no worries. Chef Rod’s got your sweet tooth satiated. The Tempura French Toast with caramel, glazed bananas and brown sugar puts any impressive “pancake-flight” to brunch shame. The doughiness of the bread remains perfectly intact, as the outside of the toast takes a delicate crispy texture, which is all beautifully offset by the creaminess of the generous portion of bananas.  Other standouts are the Wok Glazed Fruit on Housemade Granola with Yuzu scented yogurt and the Oxtail and Potato “Smash” with horseradish crème.

The biggest “don’t miss” factor of Sunda Sunday brunch (say that five times fast) is the Bloody Mary Bar.  The housemade bloody Mary mix is a highlight all on its own, but get creative with barbeque eel, shrimp, wasabi, ginger, jicama and Asian vegetables. And if Mimosas are your morning poison, sip yours up with Lychee, Fruit De Cocoa or Yuzu.

Sunda offers a limited but delicious menu of sushi, dim sum and salads on Sundays as well.
