If you’re looking for a post-Cinco de Mayo part-ay, head to NAHA on May 6th for their California Wine Dinner. Winemaker Fred Scherrer will host a 4-course, fresh, seasonal fare dinner (complete with a cocktail reception and take away treats), courtesy of James Beard Award-winning chef, Carrie Nahabedian (who also cooked at the Kentucky Derby’s charitable Taste of the Derby event last weekend weekend – ya, she’s cool). Each course will be paired with select wines from Scherrer Winery, including a 2009 dry rosé, a 2005 Helfer chardonnay, a 2006 Big Brother pinot noir, and a 2003 Scherrer cabernet. NAHA co-owner and wine director, Michael Nahabedian, says “Scherrer Wines has always been thought of as a high quality, food and price conscious winery. We only associate ourselves with products that follow those guidelines. It was only a matter of time before we would get together to throw an event like this.” For resos, call 847.881.2620 or email susie@flickwine.com. Although the $120 price tag isn’t cheap, it will sure beat your $5 Cinco de Mayo margarita hangover from the night before.
