Looking for a new workout? Newly opened (June 2!), Power Sculpt Fitness offers dynamic interval-style workouts that combine strength, cardio and core training for maximum results. “By keeping active throughout your entire workout, you maximize calorie burn and minimize downtime. You will safely train your muscles to go beyond their comfort zone so results will come quicker and your time exercising will be more effective,” says owner Heather Hughes. To break it down, Power Sculpt classes include cardio intervals to increase your heart rate, core challenges to create a lean physique, and flexibility sequences that will help increase your range of motion and limit injury.
As an exercise physiologist, personal trainer and group fitness instructor for the past 15 years, Heather has worked in corporate fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, athletic conditioning and group fitness management (among others). But over the past few years, she decided she wanted to take her workout program to the next level by creating her own company, Power Sculpt Fitness,™ Inc. “I had been searching for the ultimate body-shaping regimen, not only for my clients and participants, but also for myself,” she says. As a mother of three children, Heather says it’s all about working out efficiently and effectively. While teaching fitness classes at the Ray Meyer Fitness and Recreation Center at DePaul University, she developed an interval training program that rotated intense resistance training with cardio bursts; Heather immediately saw results in herself and in her participants. “Power Sculpt Fitness is an extension of my specialized training technique that began last spring as a once weekly ‘sculpting bootcamp’ and has developed into a multi-format extensive program that is perfect for anyone looking for challenging workouts that lead to results!”

PSF Signature offers endurance strength training with cardio intervals and is considered a great place to start. Total Transformation includes a balancing act and core training with a Bosu-inspired cardio/strength workout. Kickbox Interval offers easy-to-follow moves with ground-shaking music and Core Focus is all about getting six pack abs. Fusion Sculpt is a yoga-themed strength and stretch session, TRX Barre Challenge uses the TRX Suspension Training system alongside ballet barre exercises and Super Sculpt has Tabata and bootcamp written all over it!
