Dot Com Your Way to a Hook-up

by Kim Peiffer – September 9, 2009

Oh, the joy of wedding season (and it’s almost over!).

That’s fine and dandy if you’re the bride and groom, but it can be tricky (and filled with anxiety) if you are going to the wedding solo. What types will be there? Will you sit next to a single hottie or the bride’s grandma’s best friend?

Finally, you have a little control over your next nuptial celebration with a new social networking site that lets you scope the attendees beforehand. OneWed.com has just launched its “Wedding Pre-Party” site which fuses the fun of social networking with wedding planning.

Yes, you can go on and post comments for the happy couple, give “toasts” or “tips” and read status updates from the bride and groom. But the genius application behind the site is this: as a guest, you get to create a mini-profile for yourself with a bio and photo.

In our eyes, it’s the perfect solution to checking out the goods before the big event; which is surfing for cute singles. And all the other guests can do the same.

So move on from the horrific wedding websites of the past (where you got to check out where the couple was registered and print a map of the ceremony location – oh joy) and get pumped to mix and mingle with everyone who’s anyone at your friend’s upcoming wedding.
