They’re bright, colorful and you see them everywhere! We’re not just talking the latest sports tank and cropped pants from Lululemon. We’re talking about the people who work, live and breathe all that is Lululemon Athletica. It’s impossible to walk into any store without being motivated by these energetic, fit guys and gals. What you may not know is that life as an employee of Lululemon is more than just clearing clothes out of the dressing room. “We are focused on creating a ‘kitchen party’ atmosphere in our stores, including making all of our guests feel like they are part of our family and helping them achieve their health and fitness goals,” says Community Relations Director Tracey Keough.
Also part of that “kitchen party” is Key Leader of the Chicago store on Rush Street, Gina DiCello, who inspires others to get their gym shoes on and start running! After being a Lululemon running ambassador, Gina decided she wanted to work there. She says, “As someone who has always believed I am capable of achieving what I set out to do, I had found an entire company full of people who also believe this about themselves and support each other in doing so.” Currently, Gina is setting out to run 50 marathons in 50 states. “The people, the encouragement, the support (and let’s not forget about the clothes), provide the inspiration I need to check off one mile after the next…” So far, Gina has run seventeen marathons.
Across town, Educator at the Lincoln Park store on Halsted Street, Carina Vallejos, has worked for Lululemon for three years. Her experience with Lululemon has taught her the importance of balance and the value in personal development. “The Lululemon environment encourages vulnerability. Seeing that we always have things that we are working on is not only okay, in fact, it is encouraged,” she tells us. Carina says that by working there, she is not only physically stronger, but she has made some of her very best friends there as well. “Since we workout together as a team, we are always taking new classes in the community and sharing healthy eating tips.”
Once working at Lululemon in Chicago, Store Manager Kelly Bohnet has since
moved to Birmingham Summit, Alabama to open Alabama’s first store at The Summit Mall. Having worked for the company for five years, Kelly says, “While the clothing is amazing, it’s the people that get me up in the morning and excited to go to work. I never wake up and say ‘I don’t want to go to work today,’” she says. Her experiences with Lululemon have also expanded her repertoire of workouts. “Before working for Lululemon, I had never stepped foot in a yoga class and I was mainly a runner. I now practice yoga at least three times a week and I love it.” Kelly has also become quite the Crossfit fanatic, not to mention she’s climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, hiked Machu Picchu in Peru and competed in her first triathlon. “I am in the best shape of my life partially because I choose to be, but my job has created a space for me to do all of the things I love,” Kelly explains.

She is fun, fabulous and fierce. She is chic, intelligent and in-the-know. But most of all, the Cheeky chick is the kind of woman who embraces, admires, respects, smiles at and opens her heart to other fabulous chicks. Now THAT'S Cheeky, darling!
