The Hard Rock Hotel Chicago was the place to be last weekend for Lollapalooza. With BMF’s transformation of the second and fourth floors into the “Music Lounge,” celebrities, bands and artists alike swarmed the oasis-meets-hot-spot for the ultimate VIP experience. Every day during the festival, guests sipped on UV cocktails, cooled down with SmartWater and Fuze beverages, and perked up with Café Bustelo coffee and Red Bull. Bands like Phoenix, Cut Copy, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Semi Precious Weapons were gifted with designs from Express, Carrera sunglasses and Onitsuka Tiger gym shoes. Garnier was on hand to freshen up your ‘do and in the event you needed some new ink, Code of Conduct set up shop for anyone who wanted a new tattoo. Ke$ha even stopped by for a look at the tats, but chickened out. However, Cheeky’s own Kelli Zink did not. Check out the link for the inside look.
The Music Café on floor two hosted the BMI stage and bands such as the electro-cool Stars, local budding star Erin Martin and tweeny bopper band Purple Apple were the weekend’s standouts. Zoe Kravitz and Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad were also spotted chilling at the Music Lounge throughout the weekend.
As if the daytime happenings of the Music Lounge weren’t enough to satiate a Lolla lovers’ appetite for entertainment, the Hard Rock’s second floor ballroom transformed every night into “Belve Nights,”presented by Belvedere Vodka, for some of the hottest after-parties of the weekend. Thursday night, Perez Hilton took to the stage to present Kid Sister and B.o.B. Friday Night, Mike Posner and Neon Trees pretty much blew the roof off the joint. Saturday night, celebs like David Arquette and Hayden Panettiere (who both got new tattoos the next day in the Music Lounge) rolled in to catch Neon Hitch and Foxy Shazam. And the marquee after-party event of the weekend was no doubt Sunday night’s closing show with Temper Trap and Phoenix.
And in case you are dying to know…no, Lady Gaga did not show. However, a Cheeky word-t0-the-wise: don’t miss it next year. You never know who (or what) you’re gonna see in VIP.
