How to Balance Your Social and Fitness Lives

Healthy Party Recovery Do's and Don'ts

by Andrea Metcalf – July 20, 2011

It’s not every week that I have an event every night.  But last week was extra Cheeky in Chicago!  Business on Monday took me to GT Fish and Oyster, then dinner at Paris Club.  Tuesday, I attended both the Better Boys Foundation 50-Year Anniversary Party at Carnival as well as Angela Rose’s PAVE Event at Rockit. Wednesday brought me to the Merchandise Mart Kohler store as Chicago Magazine honored five Bold and Beautiful women in Chicago (myself being named one of them!).  I danced and mingled at a White Party on Thursday; then Friday we got wild at the Thunder from Down Under show at LaSalle Power Company.  Phew!

This hardly sounds like the life of a fitness pro training for the biggest climb of her life.  In fact, it’s sometimes difficult to balance Cheeky events with a life of health and happiness.  Here are five must do’s and don’ts for a social and fit Cheeky gal.

1.  Do plan ahead to eat healthy throughout the day.  Don’t skip meals to save on calories.

2. Do start the day with a green juice. Don’t give into “hangover” foods like greasy fries or donuts.

3. Do alternate water with late night beverages. Don’t drink more than one cocktail each hour.

4. Do make time for a morning workout. Don’t push yourself too hard the morning after.  Steady pace is best.

5. Do make fruits and veggies a must eat. Don’t go for the sweets in the afternoon when you are tired.

These are five little things that can make a huge difference – just do it.
