As I write this week’s column, we are in the midst of big changes here at Cheeky. I started this column as a celeb only guide of who’s in town, what they’re up to and where they hang out; hence my name Hollywood Cheeky. As the site expanded, so did our reader’s desire for more content. Especially content on fashion and beauty because let’s face it, what cheeky girl doesn’t want to look their cheeky best? Exactly. So this column became a mishmash of fashion, celebrity and beauty. Which is why I’m happy to announce some really big, really cheeky news.
Due to the high demand for fashion and beauty content, and my love for writing it, we have developed an entirely new Cheeky section dedicated to just that. Pretty Cheeky, we call it. And you must check it out. I will be heading up the new section as the Beauty and Fashion Editor, which is great on two accounts. One, it gives us the ability to share even more content related to fashion and beauty to our readers, and two, it makes room in this column for even more celebrity dish, something we all know and love. So get your cheekiness ready for some new and compelling stuff.
In the meantime, you’ll find more celebrity dish each and every week in this column, Hollywood Cheeky. What’s Hollywood scoop do I have for you this week?
It’s all Bachelorette juice! Now that Jillian and homeboy, Ed, have arrived in Chicago, I’ll be in full Bachelorette coverage mode. What have they done since they’ve been here? Well, they started with a big dinner at one of Ed’s favorite spots – SushiSamba Rio.
Jilian and Ed were completely adorable all night with their guests this past Thursday evening at the River North hotspot. They definitely showed some affection and kept the entire table entertained, says a source. They dined with six other friends, including Natalie Getz (from the last season of the Bachelor and a SushiSamba bartender) and “speedo Mike”, Mike Steinberg (from Jillian’s season of the Bachelorette). Natalie and Mike are now an item.
The group ate from a special omakase menu prepared by SushiSamba’s chef, Juliana Gonzales, which included: white asparagus gazpacho, organic goat cheese salad, Aji tuna a la plancha, mustard miso marinated beef tenderloin and arroz con leite, for starters. They then noshed on the el topo roll (which is Ed’s favorite roll, according to the restaurant). The roll is non-traditional and made with rice, shiso leaf, jalapeno, salmon, melted mozzarella and topped with a spicy mayo.
And it wasn’t just sushi for this group – they also indulged in a little cocktailing. The group threw back the SushiSamba cocktail tree.
Also dining at SushiSamba that same night was Derek Jeter, who was in town to play the White Sox. His table was next to Jilian and Ed’s so he said hello and even took pics with the guests at their table.
Gotta love the Midwest. We know Jillian will too.
