The summer weekends are going faster than Cubs and White Sox talent, if you know what I mean.
Sure, the Cubs and White Sox seasons have been nothing short of a disaster when it comes to performance and team standings, but sadly, talent and quality fall lower on the expectation list each year for Cubs and Sox fans when considering a visit to Wrigley or the Cell.
These days in Chicago, we go to the game for the baseball experience and clearly not the product on the field. Now, I’m not saying you won’t catch a gem of a game from the Cubs or Sox this season, but considering both ball clubs are sitting in the basement of their divisions and were statistically out of the playoffs almost a month ago, I wouldn’t count on it.
However, with just a few weekends left before Labor Day, consider checking out these upcoming games that are guaranteed to bring all of the euphoric pleasures of the ballpark: big crowds, rowdy fans and rivalry.
vs. St. Louis Cardinals: Friday, August 16: 3:05pm; Saturday, August 17: 12:05; Sunday, August 18: 3:05pm
vs. Philadelphia Phillies: Friday, August 30: 1:20pm; Saturday, August 31, 3:05pm; Sunday, September 1, TBA
Game You Don’t Wanna Miss:
Friday, August 16 vs. St. Louis Cardinals, 3:05pm: One of the last Friday day games at Wrigley before the official end of summer, this one is not to be missed. If the St. Louis rivalry wasn’t tempting enough, with a later 3:05pm start time it’s easier than ever to cut out of work early and head over to Wrigley to start the weekend off on the right foot. Added bonus: it’s the Air & Water Show weekend so you can expect an awesome fly-by before the first pitch.
Wear It: It may be one of the last weekends you can rock a tank to Wrigley. Do it now. I love this minimalist, retro Cubby Bear look from 5th & Ocean available at Clark Street Sports for $24.99.

White Sox fans only have one weekend series left at the Cell before Labor Day Weekend. After suffering through the worst White Sox season in over seven years, for some Sox fans, this may not be a bad thing.
vs. the Texas Rangers: Friday, August 23: 7:10pm; Saturday, August 24: 6:10pm; Sunday, August 25: 1:10pm
Game You Don’t Wanna Miss:
Friday, August 23 vs. the Texas Rangers, 7:10pm: It’s Elvis Night when the Sox welcome the division-leading Texas Rangers and former catcher, A.J. Pierzynski back to the Cell. Stick around afterwards for the impressive fireworks show.
Wear It: The White Sox season may be lost but this classic Batterman tee will never go out of style, no matter how poorly the south siders are playing. Get it now for the next five seasons from Clark Street Sports, $29.99

She is fun, fabulous and fierce. She is chic, intelligent and in-the-know. But most of all, the Cheeky chick is the kind of woman who embraces, admires, respects, smiles at and opens her heart to other fabulous chicks. Now THAT'S Cheeky, darling!
