Fuerza Bruta: Look Up

Let the Energy Move You

by Lauren Stewart – July 27, 2010
Club music is booming, people are dancing among the strobe lights and drinks are being poured (with neon lit straws) as people say “Cheers” to what will be a great night! Hopefully this happens for many of us every so often, but try to imagine this going down in a theatre lobby. Yes, this is the pre-show to an Argentinian born play all about having a great time called Fuerza Bruta: Look Up playing at the Auditorium Theatre. This interactive performance starts in the theater lobby turned nightclub lounge. It is fully equipped with comfortable couches, a full bar and empanadas. The lobby opens an hour before the show starts to build the hype for what is to come. Ten minutes before curtain the audience is guided ON STAGE! You are literally part of the show, and not in the way you would expect. You become part of the life of the main character. The main character is a super attractive man who has to go through some hardships (like breaking through walls, getting shot) and falls asleep. When he finally does is the moment when all of the fun comes to life. His dreams (or reality, you never really know) have an Argentian fever that never seems to go away, and you do not want it to! You are with him as he travels through blaring music, dancing friends and a pool of water above his head (and yours) that has women swimming in it. This play truly simulates all of your senses. Through sprinklers, fans and treadmills, the characters and the audience never stop moving in this 60+-minute play. Nothing can describe this epically energized experience. You have to see it to believe it.
