Unless you’ve been roaming Rush Street lately, you may not know about 1969, Chicago’s newest and most stylish denim resource. Located in the former Jake boutique space, 1969 is actually a new concept store by Gap. 1969 stands for the year the original Gap was established.
If you haven’t tried Gap’s denim on lately, you’ll be shocked when you see how it’s changed. With talented, young Executive VP of Global Design, Patrick Robinson, and former Seven for All Mankind’s head designer, Rosella Giuliani, now working for Gap, the jean designs are edgier and the fit is much improved. In fact, the pair I recently purchased at 1969 already garnered compliments and look and feel like a pair I’ve lived in for years.
Aside from one location in New York (Soho) and one location in Los Angeles (the trendy Robertson Blvd.), Chicago’s 1969 is only the third retail location in the country. What better place to test-market this new concept than Chicago!
When you first step into 1969, you’re greeted with walls and tables of denim, denim, and more denim in a variety of fabulous washes and styles. The designs are always changing and seasonal merchandise is rotated in. In addition to denim, you’ll notice an array of Woodstock-worthy belts from What Goes Around Comes Around and a limited selection of tees and hoodies. Not only do the jeans rival your favorite designer brands, the prices cannot be beat. Both pairs I purchased cost $69.50 a pair, a lot more economical than my typical pair of J Brands or Sevens. 1969’s jeans range between $54.50 to $69.50. I was also impressed with the stellar customer service. The sales associates were helpful and knowledgeable about the fits and styles of the jeans.
So, now I’m getting to the good part. If you’re reading this, than consider yourself a lucky Cheeky reader! This weekend, Thursday, July 29 thru Sunday, August 1, 1969 is giving Cheeky readers 25% off at the store. Use the attached coupon and see for yourself what I’m talking about.
