Maybe you haven’t heard of it, but you will now. With its own holiday in Peru, we’re finding out why they’re celebrating Pisco in South America. Then we’re bringing the party to the U-S-A (thanks for the wise words, Miley). Pisco is a colorless brandy produced in Peru and Chile and typical in Western South American cuisine. As the national drink of Chile and Peru, with celebrations every year on the first Saturday in February, let’s just say it holds a special place in the hearts of many Southern Americans. Sporty and sleek. Here comes a haute heavy hitter! A new one-of-a-kind upscale sports bar, gastropub experience in Chicago has arrived. The official grand opening of Municipal Bar + Dining Company took place on Friday night and drew an all-star turnout. VIP arrivals on the red carpet included Brian Urlacher, Jonathan Toews, Major Wright, Charley Oakley, Al Montoya, and Chicago icon Michael Jordan, who still can wow a crowd like no one I’ve ever seen! While this isn’t a reality show, the pressure is on. Top Chef has just been shaken, not stirred, into a Top Bartender competition for Chicago. It’s Survivor, meets Top Chef, meets cocktails, and no one is opposed to a faceoff of killer cocktails. Eligible bartenders are encouraged to display their best mixology skills in ARo’s Cocktail Faceoff. Using at least 1 oz. of this “superberry” drink, bartenders will shake, stir and pour their own creations. There is an ARo-Rita, ARo martinis, an ARo Old Fashioned and other innovative mixes that are dying to be tasted.
