The Staveley-Taylor sisters, professionally known as The Staves, have a lot going on at the moment. Having released their debut record Dead & Born & Grown back home in England last year, The Staves (Emily, Jessica and Camilla) performed two showcases at Austin’s SXSW Music and Media Conference just days before their Atlantic Records LP hit the American market. Cheeky caught up with the baby of the group, ukulele-playing Camilla Staveley-Taylor, in between gigs while at SXSW. “It’s good, it’s hot,” chuckles Staveley-Taylor of the trio’s time in Austin. ‘True Romance’ Out in April

With no less than eight performances lined up this week for Austin’s annual music festival SXSW, Charli XCX is quite the busy bee. The industrious British singer/songwriter, born Charlotte Aitchison, is hitting the streets of Austin hard in what is sure to be the best pre-album release promotional week of her burgeoning music career. Showcases hosted by Filter Magazine, IAMSOUND Records, Urban Outfitters and Perez Hilton will feature Aitchison debuting songs from her forthcoming LP True Romance, giving festival-goers a taste of her dark synth-pop soundscape. It’s gonna be Fun. And I’m not just talking about the atmosphere Sunday night…I’m talking about the singing group. Okay, enough corny jokes. The 55th Annual Grammy Awards will be airing on CBS this Sunday at 7pm. While last year it was pretty clear early on that Adele would be the frontrunner in the categories in which she was nominated (she ended up taking home six awards), this year seems to belong to Fun. The “We Are Young” singers accomplished the rare feat of being nominated in the four major categories: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist.
