The city of Chicago comes alive once the seasons change and the weather goes from I-wouldn’t-leave-my-house-if-you-paid-me winter chill to you-couldn’t-keep-me-indoors-if-you-tried summer sun. And while we appreciate every solitary moment of our summer, the main event is arguably the Fourth of July holiday. This Fourth, as in years past, brings The Taste, fireworks (although, sadly, the Grant Park firework event on July 3rd has been cancelled this year), and endless barbecues and cookouts. But what makes this coming Independence Day weekend different from years past is the premiere of the Day Party in Chicago.
Day Parties have become staples in many major cities including Washington DC, Atlanta and Charlotte. Your typical Day Party has the makings of a perfect night party. It’s hosted at a popular club, ladies come with their girlfriends and fellas arrive with their boys, the DJ is spinning hits while the dance floor is packed and the bar is fully stocked. The only difference is that the partying starts in the early afternoon and ends just before the sun goes down. And as a plus, once it’s over you can head home for a quiet evening or (if you still have the energy) get ready to hit the town again that night.
This weekend’s Day Party takes place on July 3rd at NV Penthouse (116 W. Hubbard St.) in River North and is hosted by Washington DC-based companies Forward Vision Group and Eddleton Events. Kraig Marable of Forward Vision explains, “We decided to bring the concept to Chicago after I visited The Taste last year and saw that there was a niche for a Day Party.” The groups have had huge success hosting a monthly Day Party at upscale DC night club Zanzibar and believe that they can attract out-of-towners and locals to Saturday’s event. With a stylish and chic location like NV and a surplus of folks in town looking for a good time, I think they’ll do just fine. For more information, click here.
