Make Room for a new French Concept

After over a decade, Brasserie JO – River North’s authentic French café staple – is closing its doors to make room for yet another Lettuce Entertain You restaurant.  This time, however, the fraternal duo behind HUB51 (and SUB51), RJ and Jerrod Melman, will be at its helm along with Chef Jean Joho who claims that the as-yet-unnamed future project will be a ‘first-of-its-kind French restaurant in Chicago.’

Opening in late October 2010, the new concept will focus on an approachable French fare menu in an effort to reintroduce French cuisine to the next generation of diners.  Sounds a little like the HUB51 of Franco food.

According to RJ Melman, ‘The food we have been tasting has gotten us so excited for this concept.  The chef team, lead by Tim Graham, Walter Manske and Doug Psaltis is second to none.  We are excited to show great French cooking to our generation.’

Seconds brother Jerrod, ‘HUB51 was the culmination of every idea RJ and I ever had up to that point; now we have all these new ideas, and we’re really excited to get to share them again.’

Enjoy Brasserie JO, winner of the 1996 James Beard award for Best New Restaurant, while you can as it shuts its doors forever at the end of August.
