cheeky concert connoisseurJennifer’s obsession with music and concerts has turned two of her hobbies into dreams come true. Never attending a concert without her camera since she was a freshman in high school, Jennifer now owns a fancy professional Canon Rebel T1i that is her most valued possession along with her MacBook Pro. These days Jennifer no longer needs her film developed at the camera store – thanks to technology, all of her shots can immediately be viewed as soon as they are taken, uploaded and posted on the World Wide Web.
As English was her worst subject since 6th grade, Jennifer never thought writing would become somewhat of a career aspiration. After taking a class at Columbia College Chicago called Press, Consumers and Music Business with a former Editor-in-Chief of the Illinois Entertainer, her grades in the course proved that there just might be actual talent in the subject. Music journalism is now a skill that Jennifer takes very seriously and hopes that when someone reads her reviews, they feel as if they were standing next to her at the concert.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management from Columbia, Jennifer has since worked for many concert promoters and production companies such as Live Nation, Jam Productions, AEG Live, Chicago Stagehand, ASJ Worldwide and C3 Presents. With her free time, Jennifer absolutely loves to read fiction (chick literature being the preferred genre). She enjoys listening to music, watching movies (anything with Leonardo DiCaprio) and taking classes at the Lakeview YMCA where spinning is a favorite.
Classically trained on the piano and in voice, Jennifer’s New Year’s resolution is to learn how to play her acoustic guitar. She is currently taking group lessons at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Lincoln Park. Photographing and writing for the “Sounds page” on CheekyChicago is a dream come true for Jennifer, who loves having such a fabulous site publishing her live reviews, interviews and photos.
