Steven James Dixon Comes to Chicago

by Itika Oldwine – August 6, 2010

After divorcing his college sweetheart at 25-years-old, Steven James Dixon began to journal.  Initially it was a way to get his thoughts out and deal with the emotions that came with a failed marriage. Ten years later, his journal has morphed into the popular relationship advice book colorfully titled Men Don’t Heal, We Ho.  Dixon began writing Men Don’t Heal, We Ho after he became a self proclaimed womanizer once his two-year marriage dissolved.  He thought his “failures and inability to be successful with women were unique and decided to write a book about it.”  While conducting interviews and doing research for the book, Dixon explains that he realized “there are other men like me out there that are failing in their relationships.” So he decided to use the book to teach men how to heal constructively and in a positive manner.

With a much talked about book on the stands, countless radio and television interviews and speaking appearances, Dixon has become an expert in male and female relationships.  He travels throughout the country speaking on the overall principle that “all relationships are either successful or they fail based on the leadership of men.”  If you are a woman looking for relationship advice, interested in learning how to maintain a happy and healthy marriage or just curious about the topic – Dixon will be in Chicago this week discussing his book as well as other hot topics (i.e. how to avoid and recognize men that are currently “ho-ing,” what men are looking for in a woman and tips on how to have a successful marriage).  Dixon remarried and is emphatic that divorce is not an option for him anymore.

Dixon will be at the Black Women’s Expo at McCormick Place this Saturday, August 7, to host a seminar entitled – drum roll – Do Men Ho to Heal?  Exploring the dynamics of male/female relationships is one of the most popular seminar series at the Expo; having Dixon on the roster is sure to be a treat.  He will be speaking from 3-4:30 pm and conducting a book signing immediately after in the Expo’s Literary Café.
