Victoria Beer Makes her Debut in Chicago

Corona with lime will always hold a special place in my heart, but the arrival of a new Mexican brew has left me intrigued. Victoria is Mexico’s oldest beer – and the second highest-selling imported premium beer in the world – and is now available in a handful of Chicago watering holes.

The pilsner-Vienna style beer, which was first produced in Mexico in 1865 and acquired by brewing giant Grupo Modelo in 1935, has an aroma of high-quality malt and hops and a rich amber hue. The legendary brew, which might look familiar to south-of-the border vacationers, is now available in Chicago, the first U.S. city to hold the honor. Ten Chicago venues will be pouring the cerveza, including Nacional 27, Mercadito, Sweetwater, Salud and Zapatista.

Pop by Nacional 27 this weekend as drafts of Victoria will be available for $5 each (regular price is about $8 a bottle).
